Intern - Hospitality & Planning

Menu Planning Overview 

The Menu Planning team oversees the development, planning, and implementation of the global complimentary onboard menu program. 

Job overview and responsibilities 

The Intern – Menu Planning will be responsible for a variety of exciting initiatives including but not limited to: 

  • Support the Menu Planning team in strategy, planning, and implementation of all complimentary onboard menu offerings
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement throughout all stages of menu development, planning, and implementation
  • Participate in team workshops and menu presentations
  • Collaborate with various United teams including Procurement, Food Safety, Catering Performance, Digital Technology, and Strategy & Onboard Experience
  • Communicate with external partners to gather menu information and transfer to internal menu library database 

Clubs & Lounges Overview

The Clubs & Lounges team oversees planning new clubs, determining club products and amenities, and marketing to our customers.

Clubs & Lounges Job overview and responsibilities:

  • Provide support for the implementation of new projects, including coordinating with stakeholders, managing timelines, and facilitating communication between project teams and club management.
  • Collaborate with club management to minimize disruptions to club operations during construction and renovation projects.
  • Develop or update service standards, which may include service delivery assessment, metrics and reporting, industry benchmarking, and customer feedback
  • Develop and execute customer communication plans
  • Identify opportunities and develop test plans for new products and amenities in clubs

Qualifications - External

  • Applicant must be a current undergraduate student graduating in Winter 2025 or Spring/Summer 2026
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts, Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or related field; or other relevant experience
  • Highly organized and self-motivated, with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities and ensure attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills; must be comfortable talking to and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders
  • Confident performing data analysis to arrive at insights and develop recommendations.
  • Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 

Other Qualifications 

  • Position is based in Chicago, IL - must be able to relocate for internship duration
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship now and in the future
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
