Social Media and Outreach Assistant

We are seeking a Social Media and Community Outreach student assistant this fall! Outreach assistants are responsible for supporting content creation, event organization, and research all centered around Upper Peninsula and NMU history. The Archives provide many opportunities to exercise vital creative, professional, and academic skills. Additionally, student assistants will have numerous chances to publish their work and participate in community outreach on projects like “Evening at the Archives,” “The Northern Tradition,”  “From the Stacks,” and our budding radio show “The U.P. History Moment.”  This position is a fantastic entry point into careers such as History, Journalism, Creative Writing, and many other artistic endeavors. Each student assistant will be trained for a specific task related to their skills and interests in addition to assisting patrons with research.  

We are willing to work around your academic and other commitments, but you do need to be able to commit to working at least 10 hours per week during our open hours, Monday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM. You can work up to 24 hours per week if desired. This job also offers the option of full-time summer employment, though being able to work in the summer is not a requirement of the position.
