Intern - Flight Ops Communication (Summer 2025)

Our Flight Operations Communications team is responsible for the daily support of operational and department communications, bringing our uniquely United story to life with our pilots across the world. From internal newsletters to operational communications, we’re sharing our story with the world in a way that’s clear, consistent and inspiring. Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft engaging articles for multiple newsletters
  • Review operational communications prior to publishing to ensure consistent language and grammatical accuracy
  • Manage editorial calendars
  • Engage with Chief Pilot Offices and Flight Training Center for potential pilot story/feature opportunities
  • Support multiple departments across Flight Operations with communication requests
  • Assist at the archives sorting, inventorying, assessing condition of artifacts
  • Develop mechanism to receive feedback on our internal comms channels from front line employees including digital survey, focus groups
  • Take daily analysis of content performance and provide stats
  • Pick up some fun, easy stories to write about
  • Assist at video shoots

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Applicant must be a current undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor's degree in Communications, Aviation Management or a related field
  • Highly organized and self-motivated, with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities and ensure attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Must be comfortable talking to and collaborating with a variety of partners
  • Confident performing data analysis to arrive at insights and develop recommendations
  • Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Position will be hybrid, with time spent at home as well as at Willis tower in Chicago
  • Intern duration is 12 weeks during Summer 2025
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship now and in the future
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the position
