Electronic Lock Specialist

The pay rate for this role in Florida is $37.96 per hour.

Responsibilities:Every day in this role can be different. On any given day or night, you might:

  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair access control systems, including VingCard, Lenel S2, Schlage Electronics (online and offline), Traka and Transcore/Facility Commander, and other low voltage systems
  • Program computers to work with access control systems, including VingCard, Lenel, Schlage Electronics, Traka and Transcore/Facility Commander
  • Aid in updating and developing software applications for use by shop personnel
  • Train with VingCard, Lenel, Schlage Electronics (both online and offline), Traka, Transcore/Facility Commander, and related software and electronic hardware
  • Perform Locksmith level duties, including, but not limited to door hardware, re-keying, installing and repairing locks
  • Inspect doors to verify compliance with AAADM & NFPA standards
  • Supply skilled advice and consultation related to physical security and access control
  • Read and interpret blueprints and to work independently when needed

Basic Qualifications:To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who is:

  • Familiar with Ving Card, Lenel, Schlage Electronics, Traka and Transcore/Facility Commander, as well as a sharp comprehension of access control related hardware, addressing Internet Program (IP) devices and test equipment
  • Qualified to program electronic locks to function within the parameters of the application using lock specific hardware and software
  • Able to troubleshoot and repair all hardware and wiring associated with electronic locks; understands the interconnection with the software and database management of the electronic locks
  • Familiar with low voltage systems and able to use a multi-meter to take voltage and ohm readings; can also troubleshoot and use the proper tools when cutting, stripping, or crimping wires
  • Capable of delivering clear and concise verbal and written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding
  • Mechanically inclined and proficient with good diagnostic and trouble shooting skills

Preferred Qualifications:Here are the top-tier preferred skills that we are looking for:

  • Locksmith for a minimum of two (2) years
  • Expert ability to perform keying, pinning, re-keying, and changing mechanical locking devices (e.g., removable core, interchangeable core, key in knob, key in lever, cylindrical and mortise locks, and deadbolts)
  • In-depth experience with low voltage as it pertains to access control systems, electronic access control systems, associated software, and door hardware
  • Solid understanding and experience with MEDECO and SCHLAGE locks
  • Familiar with NFPA 101 and NFPA 80 life safety and fire codes and able to locate and research needed materials associated with job from vendor source
