Merchandising and Demand Planning Analyst Intern

As a Merchandising & Demand Planning Analyst Intern, you will gain a deep understanding of Merchandising, Demand Planning, and Forecasting. You will work closely with Category Leads who develop strategies and deliver business results that impact our customers. You will have the opportunity to network with individuals from across Best Buy. In addition, you’ll participate in a summer series that includes our executive speaker events, Excel and PowerPoint workshops, and personal and professional development sessions.

This internship runs from June to August 2025. It’s a hybrid role, meaning you must be located within a drivable distance to our corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota. You’ll be asked to come into the office 3 days per week. This internship has the potential to lead to a full-time opportunity. Housing and relocation will not be provided.
 
What you’ll do

  • Merchandising: Analyze category performance and industry trends, and provide business recommendations on assortment, pricing, promotional planning, customer experience, and vendor management; being responsible for the execution of the category strategy initiatives in support of the Category Lead
  • Demand Planning: Alignment and execution of inventory purchasing and placement with focus on forecasting, vendor collaboration and inventory investment based on the category strategy. Has direct responsibility for purchasing decisions supporting all channels in partnership with Category Lead
  • Understand the aspects of each job and why it is critical to Best Buy's overall performance
  • Learn how to evaluate inventory health and determine what SKUs are productive or underperforming for your vendor/assigned category
  • Develop pricing and margin structure for the assigned vendor category

Basic qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or associate's degree from an accredited college/university, with an expected graduation date between fall 2025 and spring 2026
  • Must be able to work in the Richfield, MN corporate office Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
  • Must be able to work 40 hours a week Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am-5pm
  • Must be able to commit to the internship start and end date of 6/2/2025 – 8/8/2025
  • Must be able to commit to being no more than 2 hours driving distance from the Minneapolis Corporate Campus - 7601 Penn Ave South Richfield, MN 55423
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
