Intern, Youth After-School Program

Overview:
Motivated and Empowered Inc. is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated interns to join our Youth After-School Program team. This role will involve working directly with children in grades K-8 at our school partners, helping to create a safe, engaging, and educational after-school environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Facilitate After-School Activities:

• Lead a variety of structured activities including arts and crafts, sports, academic enrichment, games, and social-emotional learning exercises.
• Create fun, interactive, and inclusive programming that engages students in both educational and recreational activities.

Provide Academic Support:

• Assist students with homework assignments, ensuring they have the tools and resources they need to succeed.
• Offer tutoring and guidance in core subjects such as reading, math, and science as needed.

Supervision and Safety:

• Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during after-school activities.
• Supervise students during indoor and outdoor activities, maintaining a positive, respectful, and safe environment.

Mentorship and Positive Role Modeling:

• Serve as a positive role model, building strong relationships with students and encouraging positive behavior and attitudes.
• Provide mentorship, helping students develop their social skills, leadership abilities, and emotional resilience.

Collaboration with School Partners and Staff:

• Work closely with school staff and other program facilitators to ensure smooth operation of after-school programs.
• Communicate with parents, teachers, and Motivated and Empowered Inc. staff regarding student progress and any issues or concerns.

Program Evaluation and Feedback:

• Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of after-school programs and activities.
• Provide feedback and suggestions for improvement to enhance student engagement and outcomes.

Support Special Events and Projects:

• Help organize and facilitate special after-school events, workshops, and projects as part of the broader after-school program.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for new programming.
