Retail Merchandising Internship
Are you looking to develop your allocation, planning, and buying skills? Look no further! Our Retail Merchandising Internship will give you hands-on experience in it all! Not only will you gain exposure to our business strategies and the latest trends Von Maur offers, but you will step away with a holistic understanding of the buying cycle. Merchandising interns are paid and provided housing in Davenport, IA for the duration of the 10-week internship.
What to expect:
- Start the first 2 weeks of the internship at a surrounding store location to learn more about the Von Maur customer and familiarize yourself with our merchandise
- Complete merchandising training during week 3 to learn the various applications our Buyers use
- Be paired 1:1 with a Buyer who will mentor you on everything from how to make data-driven decisions to how to prepare for and run a vendor meeting
- Assist your Buyer with a variety of tasks; order writing, market research, weekly analysis, and preparing for any upcoming markets
- Participate in Von Maur store visits to view assortments and go on competitive shopping trips
You will learn how to:
- Professionally communicate with vendors and Executives
- Elevate your skills in leadership, analytics, organization, and customer service
- Maximize the business-Pull and analyze merchandising reports to adjust buys and dollars accordingly
- Create purchase orders and allocate merchandise
- Organize tasks based on the needs of the business
Our ideal candidate:
- Graduating in December of 2025 or May of 2026 from a college/university
- Major related to Fashion, Business Analytics, or Supply Chain Management
- Available to work full time (35 hrs/week). Days, nights, and weekends in the store, and 8-4 in the office
- Strong knowledge and skills in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- Ability to understand instructions, and then work independently
- Willing to relocate to Davenport, IA for the summer
