Senior SCADA Engineer

We are looking to hire a Senior SCADA Engineer to work out of our headquarters in Allendale, NJ.
Established in 1933, Control Associates along with its global process automation business partner, Emerson, specializes in supporting the process control equipment and service needs of the following industries: Biotech, Chemical, Food & Beverage, HVAC, Hydrocarbon Processing, Natural Gas Distribution & Transmission, Oil Refining, Pharmaceuticals, Power Generation, Pulp & Paper, and Water & Wastewater Treatment
Responsibilities:
- The Senior SCADA Engineer will be required to support multiple projects simultaneously, work is both in office and onsite with clients.
- Support the RASS team with all aspects of RTU, (Remote Terminal Units), flow computer and SCADA, (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) project implementation from project proposal support through to start-up and commissioning as required.
- Develop, and/or assist in the development of Control Strategies based on, General Design Specifications (GDS), and Detailed Design Specifications (DDS), and Functional Requirements Specifications (FRS).
- Develop and assist with project planning, scheduling, and project documentation, as required by each individual customer specification.
- For each client project, uniquely develop system graphics and database configurations.
- Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) along with startup, commissioning and troubleshooting of field devices (transmitters, switches, wireless devices, etc.) that connect and communicate to RTUs, flow computers and SCADA systems.
- Design, develop and implement new or enhance existing CAI strategic applications which leverage Emerson’s RAS RTU’s and SCADA platforms.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the operation, installation and troubleshooting of common connected devices to RTU’s - for example, intrinsically safe barriers, pressure transmitters, HMI displays.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of tools required for installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of RTU’s and equipment in RTU enclosures – Emerson software programs, process meters, etc.
- Provide training and guidance to more junior RASS/SCADA Engineers within CAI.
- Opportunity for Training: Hired professionals with may/will be formally trained in Emerson Process Management
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Manager.
- Normal Working Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Prerequisites:
- Bachelor of Science degree in required, preferably in electrical engineering or mechanical engineering with focus on control theory and/or robotics is strongly preferred.
- Strong computer skills including software programming, hardware and troubleshooting required. Systems and languages supported may include MATLAB, OSI-PI (AVENA PI), CWM, ROC, FB3000, IEC 1131, OE SCADA, and OSI Monarch SCADA.
- Understanding of operating systems and networking are strongly preferred, MS Office and MS Project experience required.
- 7+ years’ experience working within an energy industry or industrial process environment is required, any work experience within the natural gas industry is strongly preferred.
- Previous SCADA systems experience required. Emerson SCADA preferred, experience on other platforms including Rockwell FactoryTalk, Schneider Electric ClearScada, AVEVA, Siemens Simatic SCADA, ICONICS GENESIS64, Yokogawa FAST/TOOLS, Check Point Software, OSI-Scada, and/or Honeywell Experion SCADA, would also be considered.
- Any Process Control Communications Protocols would also be a major plus, including MODBUS, ROC, BSAP and more recently DNP 3.0.
- Customer Facing role, excellent written, verbal, and electronic communications skills are required
- Must have a history of leading successful project implementations, which provide the end client Innovation, Value and Quality.
- S/he must also have excellent organizational and time management skills.
