Corporate Training Program-Management
Our 8-week Corporate Training Program in Management is for recent graduates interested in Retail Management. The program is designed to launch individuals into their careers with Von Maur. You will spend 8 weeks at a store near you as a key leader and experience what it takes to run a successful department store. After successful completion of the program, trainees will interview for a Floor Manager or Human Resource Manager at one of our store locations.
A Floor Manager is responsible for all floor functions, operations, profitability, and customer service. They will directly supervise Department Managers and staff, conduct employee reviews fairly and constructively, communicate with upper management and customers, and monitor sales.
A Human Resource Manager is responsible for the store’s recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, payroll, and benefits administration. They also oversee the operational needs of the building and uphold our standard of customer service.
Two start dates are available: January for December graduates, and June for May graduates.
What to expect:
- Start the first week of the program at our corporate office in Davenport, IA. All trainees will complete training and orientation and get a behind-the-scenes look at our business
- Experience the role of a sales associate for 2 weeks; gain an understanding of our customers and familiarize yourself with our merchandise
- Undergo job shadows of Store Management. Assist with our hiring process, solve customer concerns, handle employee relations, and open/close the store
- Attend leadership development training
- Conclude the program, stepping in as the manager on duty
You will learn how to:
- Elevate your skills in leadership, analytics, organization, and customer service
- Handle tough customer and employee concerns/relations situations
- Analyze our business from different perspectives and implement your ideas to make a positive impact
- Curate a one-of-a-kind shopping experience for our customers
Our ideal candidate:
- Must have, recently, or will obtain a bachelor's or associate's degree related to Business, Management, or Fashion from a college/university
- 100% open to relocation to any of our store locations after the 8-week training program
- Ability to lead a team with a sound work ethic and exceptional customer service
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Retail experience required
