The City of Geneva, Illinois is accepting applications for a GIS Intern position. The position is an hourly, temporary position reporting directly to the GIS Coordinator and indirectly to the Director of Public Works. 

Don’t settle for coffee runs and copy duty, spend your time working on important projects and learning from experts! The selected applicant will spend their time with an award-winning Public Works team, working in the office and in the field. This immersive internship program provides students with hands on and practical GIS experience through the opportunity to assist with meaningful projects in a team environment.

Responsibilities:
The position provides Geographic Information Systems support duties to various departments while gaining experience in local government and public works. The major emphasis will be with entering data into the City’s GIS, collecting GPS data in the field as weather conditions allow, preparing maps/exhibits from the GIS, and updating the City’s utility atlas maps using ArcGIS/CAD software.

Qualifications:
The position requires enrollment in a GIS, Geography, Computer Science or similar bachelor's degree program, or a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in GIS or a related field, or any combination of education, computer training and GIS experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Salary and schedule:

Pay rate is $16.00 per hour and the position is anticipated to run through the fall semester. There is flexibility when it comes to scheduling as well as the start and end dates of the internship. Regular hours for Geneva Public Works are 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday - Friday.
