Victim Advocacy Educational Development Internship
The Advocacy Academy
The Advocacy Academy provides training, consulting, and coaching. Our main clients are advocates and leaders who support victims in overcoming their trauma. The Advocacy Academy offers courses for professionals who respond to domestic violence and sexual assault.
Internship Description
Although this internship is unpaid, students are encouraged to inquire with their institution about earning academic credit for their participation.
This internship experience is highly flexible and creative. Most students commit to a 15 week internship. Each week there is a mandatory Zoom team meeting where we share ideas, present progress, and support each other’s work. Each intern receives a temporary Advocacy Academy email address where they can communicate and collaborate with each other and the internship supervisor.
Projects can revolve around social media posts, resource posters or infographics, curricula, etc. The most beneficial part of this internship is that you could end up with a product to add to your portfolio. You will receive all preparation needed to become a credentialed advocate.
Additional benefits: fully remote, ability to set own hours, access to free trainings, possibility to publish curriculum content
Interns must have their their own computer with access to the internet in order to join Zoom meetings and complete project work.
Who Should Apply
The internship is ideal for undergraduate students. Though the Advocacy Academy is based in Philadelphia, this internship is completely remote with flexible hours. With that in mind, students from across the country are encouraged to join us. The Advocacy Academy is best suited for students who are studying social work, psychology, human services, public health, and criminal justice.
