Commercial Real Estate Originations & Asset Management Summer Intern

Job Purpose

The Atlanta debt platform is responsible for the origination and management of privately placed commercial real estate debt (commercial mortgages, mezzanine loans, and B- notes) on behalf of its clients. The internship will focus on financial modeling and analysis of new and existing investments, asset valuation, asset and market due diligence, processing borrower requests and other special projects.

 

Key Accountabilities 


Asset Management Responsibilities 

  • Support all day-to-day function of the asset management team including monitoring of asset performance, lease analyses as well as monitoring of renovation projects
  • Conduct market research
  • Prepare client reports including quarterly asset management reports, annual reports, fund/portfolio review presentations and other ad-hoc reports
  • Maintain and update Argus models and underwriting models to reflect asset performance and changes in the market environment
  • Contribute to quarterly and/or annual asset valuations by working with Analyst AM
  • Monitor ESG objectives of the portfolio and contribute to ad-hoc ESG projects
  • Coordinate with internal fund management, accounting, risk management, sustainability team on various tasks

 

Origination Responsibilities 

  • Assist senior personnel in the production of financial underwriting models to evaluate new loan opportunities
  • Review rent rolls, leases, income statements, leasing activity reports, capital expenditure plans and other documentation that impacts property cash flow and value
  • Conduct market research utilizing CoStar, Axiometrics, Real Cap Analytics, and other available resources to asses market fundamentals for potential investments
  • Assist in the preparation of internal and external investment memorandum
  • Monitor new loan status to manage and update internal pipeline report
  • Prepare ad hoc analyses at the direction of senior personnel

Role Requirements 


Education/Qualifications 

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in related major, finance degree a plus, with expected graduation in 2026 or 2027
  • Demonstrates a strong interest in CRE finance and the asset management industry

 

Experience

  • Experience with direct asset management, portfolio management for real estate investments a plus
  • Cross cultural work experience a plus

 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Basic knowledge of Excel, Power Point and Word
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills; oral and written
  • Spoken and written fluency in English required
  • Argus skills a plus

The pay range for this position is $30-$37 per hour, for a duration of 8 weeks. Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual’s skills, experience, and location. We strive for market alignment and internal equity with our colleagues’ pay.
