Job Summary

The Associate will undertake an integrated communication strategies conveying Bank of China’s overall institutional vision among key audiences and stakeholders, including governmental organizations (Federal & State), US and Chinese media, academia, and business partners/clients increasing visibility for the Bank while enhancing its brand identity, brand awareness, and engagement with the general public by drafting content and creating new designs in various marketing materials. The role also includes drafting content and creating designs for both the bank’s website and Intranet sites, along with the bank’s LinkedIn and Wechat sites. The job also encompasses the management and execution of the bank’s corporate social responsibility, including CRA and ESG related programming. The Associate also assists in managing the group’s budget and various other reporting to other departments.

 

Job Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

Corporate Communications & Public Relations:

  • Ensure communication strategy is consistent and reflects the Bank’s strategic vision and goals
  • Monitor the political, economic and social environment for emerging issues/risks and potential situations that may impact the Bank’s reputation and business in the US
  • Communicate with the bank’s PR Company and social media team to plan content
  • Create and deliver public relations materials such as press releases, WeChat articles, executive bios, corporate newsletter content, and proposals
  • Plan, coordinate and execute press conferences and events or panels by handling details such as time, place, agenda, refreshments,
  • Monitor and report all media coverage of the bank
  • Act as a coordinator to all US branches and business units on matters pertaining to strategic communications of the bank including roll-out of new products, communications to government bodies and branding campaigns

Website and Intranet Management:

  • Plan, implement, manage, monitor, and upgrade website and Intranet content
  • Respond to and troubleshoot all website issues
  • Create appropriate website and Intranet content aligned with the bank’s strategy.
  • Develop clear and engaging content that is consistent with the company's brand image and addresses both business goals and consumer needs
  • Provide technical support on-site. Manage technical documentation and conducting daily backup operations
  • Draft project reports as required

Facilitation & Implementation of Marketing/Branding Strategy:

  • Design and implement creative marketing and branding strategies and materials, and assist in the distribution of such materials.
  • Conduct research on how to write digital media strategies and translate these strategies into final media recommendations, plans, and materials
  • Plan the development of programs to maintain favorable stakeholder views of the bank's agenda and accomplishments.
  • Prepare marketing plans and update accordingly
  • Digital design flyers/brochures/advertisements
  • Create content and design for the bank’s LinkedIn and Wechat sites

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Community Investment Act (CRA), Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG):

  • Implement CSR strategy that incorporates a full suite of both internal and external engagement programs and opportunities that serves the business needs of the US branches while aligning it with the Head Office’s CSR strategy
  • Facilitate and implement CSR programming within the Bank’s existing corporate partners, new donor groups and new partnerships with identified organizations to increase brand visibility and community social impact
  • Implement and assist in updating corporate giving protocols, policies and procedures for solicitations, donations and grants
  • Work closely with LCD and the Bank CRA Officer on CRA contributions and volunteer programs
  • Work closely with the MD in-charge and the ESG Working Group on enhancing and promoting related ESG programming.
  • Execute all corporate giving protocols, policies and procedures for sponsorships, donations and grants
  • Promote internal initiatives aimed at improving the Bank’s CSR, CRA & ESG programs

 

Risk Management:

  • Conduct daily public opinion monitoring and prepare routine risk and hoc reports
  • Assist in the identification of business risks and develop defensive and responsive communication strategies to address initiatives that could impact the Bank
  • Write daily/weekly/monthly risk and ad hoc reports
  • Assist in the development of crisis preparedness activities that will support the business operations and reputation objectives
  • Facilitate planning and coordination of meetings and training to introduce communications concepts, develop communications/marketing plans and work closely with business units to implement those plans

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the relevant disciplines (Business Administration, Marketing, Law, Journalism, International Relations, Public Relations, Information Technology, Communications, and English required at the time of hiring; Master's degree is preferred
  • Experience in a large organization managing an enterprise wide corporate communications function is preferred
  • Demonstrate strong background and knowledge of the financial industry, corporate transaction, US-China investment and trade issues, and knowledge of US-China political, cultural, economic relations and future trends
  • Professional fluency in Chinese required
