SECURITY ENGINEER (CYBER SECURITY) INTERN!
This person will develop an understanding of the fundamental controls, processes and tasks that make up a cybersecurity program by assisting with the planning, coordinating, designing, and implementing of security measures to safeguard WoodmenLife’s Information Resources. This may include developing and reviewing security policies and procedures and monitoring/auditing user access/activity. Assists with a variety of department administrative functions to meet daily objects and project deadlines. Performs research and analysis to support departmental needs. Develops security solutions or process enhancements that adequately address risk while improving business efficiency.
The specific work experience will be tailored to the intern’s area of study, interests, skillset and prospective degree.

Essential Job Functions
List 6-10
Broad exposure to the WoodmenLife organization by meeting weekly with the 2025 Internship Cohort, collectively with Executive Leadership, and one-on-one with leaders at the division level.
Summarizes and presents capstone reflection of 2025 Internship experience regarding projects and skills development in the following focus areas.
Assists with the development, implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of Information Security controls to ensure they satisfy WL policies and standards.
Conducts security audits on applications and systems used by WL to document and present findings along with recommended solutions, alternatives, and procedural changes to improve WL’s security posture.
Conducts research and/or development for new information security techniques to evaluate their applicability to WL’s Information Resources.
Assists with the Third-Party Service Provider (TPSP) program to include monitoring third provider security profiles, assist with risk assessments, and update documentation.
Assists with specialized projects to support WoodmenLife strategic initiatives.
Shadows multiple office positions and train in a variety of tasks.
Develops skills related to program of study through participation in internal training opportunities.
Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
List 6-10
This job requires a background that demonstrates the following minimum knowledge and skills.
Sophomore, Junior or Senior in college, currently pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field(s).
Must have a 3.0 or higher GPA
Ability to work 38.75 hours per week
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively while working collaboratively.
Self-motivated and a team player.
Demonstrates strong analytical, organizational and time management skills.
Proficient computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office
Demonstrates Innovation-first and DevSecOps mindset.
The ability to provide seamless, trustworthy, attentive and resourceful (S.T.A.R.) customer service.
