Who We Are:
We are a team in Chesterfield County’s Mental Health Support Services Department that provides front line services to register and refer individuals with services through the agency. We are looking for a Customer Service Representative to assist individuals seeking mental health treatment. The Customer Service Representative will be responsible for making sure assessments are completed and enrolling individuals in services the same day they walk into the agency.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Successful candidate will possess a high school diploma or GED; one year of customer service experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of the principles and practices of customer service; of standard office practices and procedures. Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with the public; to interact with a variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds and of varying ages; to perform mathematical calculations; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
Preferred knowledge of agency programs and other community resources; skill in client data collection preferred; working knowledge of electronic health records preferred: demonstrated effective customer service skills preferred.
Additional Requirements

Duties include but are not limited to the following:
• Greets and assists customers with routine matters.
• Provides general information on department programs and services.
• Processes applications, orders, payments, and other routine transactions
• Researches and resolves customer account issues.
• Performs a variety of office support tasks (e.g. data entry, filing, and copying.
• Assists citizens with their initial mental health service requests during walk in visits or by telephone.
• Gathers and inputs client information into an electronic health record.
• Screens and refers clients to an internal provider for assessment or to a community provider if the client prefers.
• Answers calls, answer program service questions, and transfer calls to appropriate parties.
• Performs other work as required.
