Job Summary:
The University Information Technology-Academic Technologies department is seeking a Technology Systems Integrator. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position.
The Technology Systems Integrator is a professional faculty position in Oregon State University’s UIT - Academic Technologies (AT) department in University Information and Technology (UIT ) and reports to the Associate Director of Technical Services. The person in this position takes the lead role in the specification, design, installation, maintenance and management of audio/video transmission systems for OSU . In that capacity they will work as part of a team in the administration, systems analysis and technical management of existing systems. The person in this position works closely with media production staff, system specialists, vendors, and other IT units in the integration, installation, and maintenance of systems encompassing audiovisual, broadcasting, scoreboards, networks, and other technologies related to supporting media-rich events and venues at Oregon State University. The position will act as point of contact for production crews, including professional service contractors, students, and OSU staff, interfacing with campus broadcast assets and venues. The position requires strong technical knowledge and personnel management skills to deliver effective video, audio, scoreboards, and communications services for OSU events. They will report to supervisors on emerging technologies and circumstances that might affect existing or future programs. Will follow direction of leadership as to system goals of transmission systems for use within OSU .

Key Responsibilities
50% Technology Systems Architecture, Integration, Documentation, and Maintenance.
• Serves as the technical design engineer and consultant for large venue video and audio systems, scoreboards, communication systems, and broadcast interfaces for OSU events. Coordinates maintenance of systems. Interfaces with system vendors to ensure systems operate to standards during events. Coordinates and completes regular maintenance and repairs on electronic systems for scoreboards, audio systems, and video boards for large production venues.
• Works with architects, vendors, and installers and understands data, mechanical and electrical schematics and architectural drawings. Works closely with production units to define, design, and support video production and audio systems to enhance Oregon State University media experiences.
• Provides audio/video system design and installation plans for new facilities and renovation/upgrades including products, parts, components, and control systems according to standard engineering and industry principles and practices.
• Creates and maintains documentation of all designs, installs, and modifications. Identifies new technologies related to events and large venue systems.
• Identifies problems, troubleshoots, and provides advice to assist users. Coordinates with other AT and IT areas to resolve problems if necessary. Troubleshoots media systems problems and failures in high-stress and high-profile environments.
• Assists with the installation of new technology and media related events, training and learning facilities.
• Assist both IT and external customers with selecting the appropriate technology for transmission of video and auxiliary services. Provides consulting on available technology and equipment specification during design phases of video transmission projects and provides oversight on installation and operation of the equipment during the project. Meets with the customer to assess the effectiveness of infrastructure and operations upon completion of the project.
• Ensures the availability, integrity and reliability of systems by monitoring and performing proof of performance checks of the transmission systems. Operates the transmission testing equipment directly and by remote control. Analyses test results qualitatively and quantitatively to determine if the network is being adversely impacted and formulate plans to mitigate impacts. Performs system-based analysis to ensure that total quality control goals are met. Works with other technical control facilities to ensure that programs are handed off or accepted within guidelines. May directly operate communications equipment as required to maintain services.
• Fabricates, modifies and repairs a diverse range of telecommunications equipment. Orders parts, maintains inventory of repair parts for transmission and related equipment. Troubleshoots equipment problems. Works with vendors and/or manufactures as the need arises.
30% Lead Work
• Leads and coordinates work of Equipment Systems Support staff and student employees assigned to design, maintain, setup, install, and take down systems for events and projects.
• Schedules work and resources weekly and provides post event reviews for quality control. Responsible for reviewing budgets, price structures, and policies with Associate Director.
• Works with staff to process work orders for billing through the unit’s accounting office.
10% Media Engineer Support
• Provides media technical system design, fabrication, and event coordination for media and production rich environments such as studios, event spaces, teaching and learning spaces, broadcast facilities, and larger capacity campus events as the backup to AT’s Technical Service Associate Director.
10% Institutional Representation and Service.
• Develops and maintains open communication with media production staff on campus to assess common needs, define technology features and goals, and assess outcomes of built systems.
• Facilitates sharing of trends and ideas and identifies effective practices.
• Provides workshops and training for staff, contractors, and clients on the effective use of technology to improve production and training.
• Research emerging technologies associated with large venues, interactive technologies, and training environments.
• Recommends future roadmaps for strategies and infrastructure for new instructional systems and technologies.
• Attends professional workshops and meetings and shares knowledge and networks with other professionals.
• Enhances expertise by reading appropriate professional journals and trade publications.
What You Will Need
• Specialized associate degree in communication technologies, media systems, or broadcasting or 5 years of related work experience
• Proficiency or demonstrated experience in audio, presentation, and computer system design and integration, with demonstrated experience working with a diverse client base in assessing technology needs, designing to specifications, and providing training and client support.
• Demonstrated knowledge of large venue audio and video systems, and digital control systems.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written presentation skills.
• Proficiency or demonstrated experience with CAD software
• Proficiency or demonstrated experience of project management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work in and lead teams.
• Proven record as a self-starter. Flexibility to adapt to an ever-changing and fast- paced environment.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess, and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030
What We Would Like You to Have

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, engineering, communication, education, or related field.
• Oregon Limited Energy Technician Electrician License (Class B).
• InfoComm (AVIXA ) CTS certification.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
• This position will often be required to lift, carry, push and pull items weighing up to 50 lbs.
• May be exposed to high noise levels.
• Work on elevated surfaces: (roof access manlift, catwalk, tower climbing, ladder, tree climbing, scaffold, etc)
• Work with lift equipment: (chain fall, sling, stand, pallet jack, vehicle lift, electric hoist, block and tackle, etc)
