Four of the candidates will work within the Bureau of Project Management (BPM) and Bureau of State-lead Superfund sites (BSS), providing administrative and technical support for DER programs such as State Superfund, Emergency Response, Brownfield Cleanup, and Environmental Restoration. The incumbents will administer and update a variety of NYS statutes, regulations, and policies and procedures associated with these programs, including green and sustainable remediation and renewable energy systems on Department regulated sites. The candidates will be responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and completing project activities which support the Division’s response to the portfolio of projects in DER’s remedial programs. The one remaining candidate will assist with coordinating DER’s training program and will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive training program focused on environmental remediation and health and safety practices. This role will involve coordinating technical training for environmental professionals, assessing the needs of project managers by periodically visiting cleanup sites, and tracking compliance with health and safety regulations.
