Urban Composting Intern - Non-Profit

We are an established environmental non-profit organization with many projects to get involved with. We are looking for passionate students to join the team for the fall/winter.

As a urban composting intern you will use applied biology and chemistry to help Reroot turn yard and food wastes into useful materials and keep it out of landfills. You will learn how to create a complete cycle of biomass and necromass in a productive cycle. You will help develop informational materials and assist in volunteer events as needed. Currently this position is unpaid but can be developed into a paid position depending on time commitments.

 

As an intern at Reroot Pontiac you will have the opportunity to: 

-Gain real world experience in a multitude of disciplines within the environmental science field  

-Get the freedom to pursue topics and projects that interest you

-Work with our experienced team to expand your knowledge and skills

-Utilize our network and resources to get yourself ahead in the field 

-Support the development of green projects in an urban setting

 

This internship lasts for 16 weeks (but your internship length will not be limited)

 

University credit may be available for the position depending on your major and school

 

Internship Responsibilities:

-Choose a focus project and help direct efforts to develop it

-Work with a team and individually to complete tasks in multiple interdisciplinary projects

-Assist in volunteer engagements as needed

-Assist in additional documentation of projects

Preferred skills:

-Understanding of basic biology and the related sciences

-Horticulture experience
