EDU Content Marketing Intern
Internship Purpose
SXSW EDU is seeking a Content Marketing Intern to work closely with the marketing team to assist with the planning, creation, scheduling, and execution of content marketing efforts for the 2025 SXSW EDU Conference & Festival. The intern will report directly to the Content Marketing Coordinator and be responsible for providing support in several areas, including but not limited to coordinating brand presence on the website and social media, copywriting, content proofing, brainstorming, scheduling, and analyzing campaign metrics. This role will provide a broad spectrum of experience in creating and promoting digital content supporting a large-scale, multi-faceted, international event.
What you will learn:
- How to create, manage, and maintain a social media presence on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok in preparation for and during a live event.
- How to plan, create, and maintain content hosted on the website.
- How to coordinate content marketing operations.
- Collaborate with various teams across the company.
- How does the promotion of an annual event differ in execution and planning from a traditional product/business?
- How to write and edit targeted copy for various platforms and audiences to achieve a specific goal.
Qualifications & Skills:
To be eligible for an SXSW internship, you must be enrolled in an accredited university or college and live in Texas.
- Majoring in Business, Marketing, Advertising, Management, Communications/PR, or similar
- Demonstrate strong and ongoing interest in education & event industries
- Show interest in expanding content marketing experience & knowledge
- Enjoy brainstorming and creative writing with strategic direction
- Be highly organized and flexible with an open-minded approach
- Demonstrate good communication skills and leadership qualities
- Show strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Be comfortable multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
- Have some experience with Mac computers
- Knowledge of WordPress and Hootsuite is a plus
Physical Requirements
Frequently required to sit, stand, or walk for long periods with or without accommodation. Keyboard and office equipment use, with or without accommodation. Typical office work environment. This position may require you to stay away from home during the event.
Work Location, Schedule & Pay
This position is located in Austin, Texas. Core business office hours are Monday through Friday, 10 am to 6 pm. Candidates must be available to work from October 2024 to March 2025. A time commitment of 12-16 hours a week is required. Candidates may be able to work remotely or in the office. This position may also receive preferential consideration for future SXSW hiring opportunities. This is a paid internship at $12.00/hr.
