MIT Beaver Works - Fall Python Teaching Assistant
MIT Beaver Works is seeking fall interns to contribute to the Beaver Works Summer Institute (BWSI) Introduction to Python course. BWSI is a world class educational outreach program that challenges high school students across the country to develop robust unmanned systems using state-of-the-art autonomy algorithms and sensors. For more information on BWSI program visit: https://beaverworks.ll.mit.edu/CMS/bw/bwsi. TA’s will spend eight weeks co-instructing the courses and moderating a course chat room.
Tasks include the following:
· Co-instruction of college-level course material to top high school students from the U.S.
· Emphasize good habits for clean code development
· Expose the students to the importance of and use cases of good programming
Position Requirements:
· Current undergraduate students in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or other
technical field, coupled with the demonstrated ability to apply talents to new fields
· Demonstrated excellence in communication skills and the ability to convey technical
concepts in a concise manner to a wide spectrum of audiences
· Interest in programming, course development, and educational instruction
· The course runs October 12th to December 7th 2024, Saturdays 10am-12pm EST virtually
· Course assistants are expected to be available October 10th through December 15th
excluding the weekend of Thanksgiving, with a commitment level of 10 hours/week
Desired Skills:
· Experience programming in Python.
· Experience with project development and applications of programming
· Experience with educational instruction (e.g. teaching, tutoring, etc.)
