Systems and Applications Engineer
Working as a Systems and Applications engineer, your primary role is to provide efficient support of NXP’s processors in tight collaboration with the customers, partners, worldwide IC design team and other systems teams for customer applications support. You might work with NXP’s i.MX Multimedia Processors as part of the MCU/MPU Business Line, or join Automotive Processing working on High Voltage Battery Conversion, Optimized PMICs for Applications Processors, and Distributed Power Point of Load devices. In our Sensors group, you’d support solutions that deliver trusted sensor information for secure, connected vehicles and the Internet of Things (IoT).
Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations may include:
- Develop integrated solutions (hardware and software) addressing applications in the areas of IoT market applications, connectivity, edge computing, and security
- Translate customer / market requirements into technical definitions
- Investigate and analyze consumer and industrial market applications and competitor capabilities
- Document, design, and prototype system level technical application requirements
- Support sales/marketing/FAE and distributor teams on target applications and solutions
- Support designers, system architecture engineers and product marketers for new product introductions
- Work closely with external partners and customers
- Focus on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
- Develop technical demonstrations and use case reference designs that encompass both hardware and software content.
- Technical product support to customers, field applications engineers and distribution partners.
- Development and presentation of technical product trainings for the sales field and customer communities.
- Bench level use case product characterization.
- Portfolio competitive analysis.
- Software driver development and/or verification
- Customer qualification support
- Work with designers, test engineers, application engineers, architects to develop processes & tools to manage the information they develop to minimize human error and maximize efficiency.
- Develop standard practices and processes to ensure consistency and quality of technical content development.
Job Qualifications:
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or similar is required, along with up to 2 years experience, including internships
Experience or coursework in the following are helpful in determining which product or business line you might support:
- Programming languages such as C, JavaScript, Python, HTML, CSS, and software development methodologies
- Aptitude and enthusiasm in learning new tools and technology; interest in improving processes
- Familiarity with board level circuit design and debugging techniques
- A strong team working mindset and ability to influence individuals and teams across cultures and time zones
- Excellent presentation and communication skills coupled with strong interpersonal skills
- Technical writing skills for creating application notes, white papers, and user’s guides / reference manuals.
- Familiarity with multimedia and graphics technologies is a major plus
- Experience with embedded Systems on Chip, especially the ARM Cortex architecture.
- Experience using software debugging tools to view and program processor registers.
- Embedded software development and debug experience including one of more of the following: Linux, Android, kernel modules and device drivers
- Knowledge on power management solutions and architectures
- Voltage regulation methods and associated circuits
- Experience with Linux build systems running on NXP i.MX development boards, Raspberry Pi, or Beaglebone. Yocto Linux experience is a definite plus.
- Application experience in object / facial recognition, voice command and control
- Experience developing ARM Cortex-M based MCU & Cortex-A based MPU portfolio applications
- Knowledge of wireless connectivity, both hardware and software
- Previous Experience with NXP, Freescale, TI, ST, Microchip, Renesas, Toshiba, Intel, or Qualcomm MCUs/MPUs is highly sought
