Social Services Intern

Internship Title: Sr. Social Services Specialist 

Company Overview: The Center for Societal Aspiration is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to rehabilitating vulnerable members of our community. The CSACO will currently serve individuals facing challenges such as addiction, homelessness, or poverty. Our organization offers a comprehensive range of programs encompassing Health & Human Services and Career Services. Harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) and mobile technology, we deliver an intensive and personalized approach to care while providing access to an array of healthcare professionals and career mentors.

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and creative volunteer Sr. Social Services Specialist to join our Programs team. The Senior Social Services Specialist is responsible for developing and designing a mobile crisis unit aimed at providing immediate, on-site support and intervention for individuals in distress. This role involves coordinating with mental health professionals, law enforcement, and community organizations to create an effective, responsive service that addresses the urgent needs of the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Program Development and Design: Lead the research, design, and development of the mobile crisis unit program, ensuring it meets the community's needs and aligns with organizational goals.
  2. Resource Coordination: Identify and coordinate with external resources such as housing, healthcare, employment, and educational opportunities to support the mobile crisis unit's operations.
  3. Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive records, documenting all aspects of program development, including research findings, stakeholder consultations, and planning details.
  4. Policy and Procedure Development: Create policies and procedures for the mobile crisis unit, ensuring they are in line with best practices and regulatory requirements.
  5. Community Outreach: Engage in community outreach to raise awareness of the mobile crisis unit, gather community input, and identify potential partnerships and resources.
  6. Workshops and Training: Organize and conduct workshops and training sessions for staff and community members to educate them about the mobile crisis unit and crisis intervention strategies.
  7. Collaboration: Collaborate with other social services professionals, healthcare providers, law enforcement, and community organizations to build a comprehensive and coordinated response network.
  8. Administrative Support: Oversee administrative tasks related to the program, including scheduling meetings, managing project timelines, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with funding and reporting requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, or a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards clients.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic knowledge of community resources and social services.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
