General Purpose:

The Research Assistant (RA) position offers current IUI students the opportunity to collaborate with faculty at the Kelley School of Business in Indianapolis. This role involves supporting a research project focused on identifying factors related to safety and compliance with forklift operational standards in warehouse settings. By participating in this project, students will engage directly with real-world operational challenges faced by warehouses across the United States. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide research assistance inter terms of data collection and storage, and data cleaning and analysis.   
  • Assist on other projects on an as-needed basis.

Primary functions: 

Research Assistance

  • To understand the purpose of the research assignment.
  • To understand how to complete the assignment, understand the expectations.
  • To complete assignments in a timely basis.
  • To prepare appropriate and thorough documentation as indicated by the faculty.
  • To provide feedback to faculty on progress and any issues related to completing the assignment.

 

 

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Must be reliable and able to manage time to work on multiple assignments.
  • Sufficient interpersonal skills for working in groups.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality. A binding Non-Disclosure Agreement with the corporate sponsor will be proffered and must be signed/adhered to.
  • Must be courteous, prompt, and completely dependable.
  • Strong data science and analytical skills, including proficiency in machine learning and exploratory data analysis, are required.
  • Proficiency in R and/or Python is essential, with a preference for experience in both, along with a solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite programs. 
  • Must be capable of effectively working and collaborating in a Zoom environment. 
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines is crucial.

 

Preferred:

  • Either a KSBI EMBA or IUI Computer and Information Science graduate student.
  • Have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or greater.
    • Analytical thinking – The ability to critically and analytically thinking about real problems manifested through data.
