Food Services-Sustainability Intern
Job Summary
The Sustainability Internship will provide a student with the unique experience of working with a business entity (the dining services provider), campus organizations, departments, and Susquehanna University departments as a dining liaison in the development and implementation of a sustainability plan. This position is defined as a non-exempt position under FLSA regulations.
Specific Responsibilities
- Work as a liaison closely with Dining Services and the Office of Sustainability in the development and providing sustainable waste solutions to align Dining Services and University sustainability vision.
- Assist in creation and implementation of assessment instruments, such as the Real Food Calculator. Compile and analyze data; reporting results to the Dining Services and the Office of Sustainability.
- Track, evaluate, and promote the food waste tracking program.
- Offer improvements for Post and Pre-Consumer waste.
- Prepare sustainability marketing materials (banners, posters, table tents, etc.) as requested by Dining Services.
- Prepare a summary report of sustainability activities at the end of each academic semester for the University and Dining Services; may include oral presentation.
- Assist in the development of educational programs and events that bring awareness to sustainable food.
- Assist in the development of a campus-wide marketing plan for sustainability in our food system.
- Attend Food Working Group Meetings within the Office of Sustainability.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education
- First Year, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in any major
- The intern will work approximately 20 hours per week
- This position pays $11.00 per hour
