PAY RANGE: $21.00 - $26.00

Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Other hours as required)

Intern Description:

Reporting to the Manager of Operations Compliance Engineering, this position supports the management of Operations & Planning (O&P) and cyber security Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) reliability standards. The role involves close collaboration with generation and substation electrical engineers to support relevant reliability initiatives, including disturbance monitoring of inverter-based resources, the Internal Network Security Monitoring (INSM) program, SEL Blueframe and cold weather corrective action plans. The primary goal is to automate key compliance tasks to achieve long-term efficiencies.

Job tasks include but not limited to:
• Partner with internal stakeholders to analyze and understand their data and processes to assess the needs of configuration/scripting and reporting/dashboard opportunities.
• Support the management of O&P and CIP reliability standards, including translating technical requirements to different audiences.
• Build and maintain cross-functional relationships across various teams and departments.
• Develop and implement innovative, analytical, and automation solutions to improve long-term outcome of compliance processes.
• Perform other work as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Candidates must be enrolled in a university pursuing a degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
• Ability to apply an analytical approach to technical thinking.
• Experience with ETL tools and PowerBI dashboard building. 
• Experience with SQL or desire to learn.
• Experience with Power Apps or desire to learn.
• Must be dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented and have excellent organizational and proofreading skills.   
• Strong investigative, problem solving and analytical skills with ability to extract key themes and determine root causes. 
• Ability to understand business process workflow diagrams or procedural documentation. 
• Must possess the ability to work and communicate effectively with other company personnel.  
• Must be able to handle multiple priorities and operate efficiently and effectively in a high stress environment. 
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Strong math, business/technical writing, and technical reading skills.
• Skills are necessary in planning, organizing, oral and written communication, prioritizing and team building.
• Ability to quickly learn and become proficient in new computer software and programs.

Working Conditions:

Most work will be performed within an office environment. Travel to the field (generation/substation) will be offered, but not required.  Must have a satisfactory work record including good attendance.
