Senior Full Stack Engineer

Position: Senior Full Stack Engineer @ Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services

As a Full Stack Engineer, you will play a critical role in developing comprehensive solutions that drive impactful healthcare data analytics. Your work will directly support informed decision-making on policy and procedure, influencing the future of our nation’s healthcare infrastructure. You'll be responsible for the full spectrum of system design, application development, and data integration, leveraging company products, open-source technologies, and your own innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full-Stack Development: Design and build robust web application features, including both front-end and back-end components. Implement efficient, scalable systems to meet user needs.
  • User-Centric Design: Develop user-facing features with a focus on high performance, scalability, and seamless user experience using TypeScript and React.js.
  • API Integration: Architect and implement back-end APIs, integrating them with 2nd and 3rd party platforms to extend functionality.
  • Data Optimization: Design and develop data models that optimize data access for web applications, ensuring fast and reliable performance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in Agile processes such as daily standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives, collaborating closely with product owners, business analysts, and designers to refine requirements and deliver continuous improvements.
  • Documentation & Support: Author clear, concise documentation for APIs and deployment processes. Provide ongoing support, maintenance, and enhancements to existing systems.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years in full-stack development roles, with deep expertise in at least one of the following languages: TypeScript, Python, Ruby, Golang, or Kotlin.
  • Frameworks: Proven experience with modern web application frameworks like React, Django, Flask, or Grails.
  • Cloud Expertise: Proficiency in AWS or GCP cloud architecture, including experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
  • Agile Methodology: Extensive experience working within fully integrated Agile product teams of fewer than 15 people.
  • API Mastery: Strong understanding of APIs, including RESTful practices, GraphQL, and various data formats (JSON, XML).
  • DevOps & CI/CD: Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and performance monitoring tools such as Grafana, Sentry, and Prometheus.
  • Security: Ability to design and implement secure systems, with knowledge of AuthN/AuthZ systems, including Active Directory, Okta, OAuth, SAML, and AWS IAM policies.
  • Healthcare Data Expertise: Experience with healthcare data, particularly from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services or related healthcare industry experience.
  • Message Queues: Familiarity with message queue systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Kinesis, and their associated design patterns.

Other Requirements:

  • Public Trust: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance. Must be a US Citizen for Govt Job clearance
