As an Intern, you can expect to:
Join Southwest as a Spring 2025 Intern, with a 12-week internship lasting from January 28th through April 17th, 2025.
Interns must be based in Washington, DC or surrounding area and be on-site for at least three days per week and may be required to work a flexible schedule.
Dedicate a minimum of 24 hours each week to your internship responsibilities and tasks, up to 40 hours a week. We recommend checking your spring schedule now to ensure availability.
Receive an hourly pay listed below in “Time Commitment and Pay” and receive a one-time, $1,000 stipend (Paid $500 on first paycheck and $500 at midpoint of internship)
Receive free, unlimited travel privileges for yourself (taxes and fees may apply on international travel).
Travel is rare, such as to our Dallas-based Headquarters, but may be required for this internship including multiple day stays at various event or work locations.
This internship may require Business Professional attire for specific events or work functions.
Interns will receive any required equipment, such as a laptop, for the internship.

Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

Education:
Progress towards degree in a related field to the area of focus for the internship.
Minimum Sophomore status. May not have an undergraduate graduation date of December 2023 or prior, unless already enrolled in a full-time graduate degree program at time of application.
To be eligible you must be currently enrolled as a full-time student as defined by your university at the time of application.
Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA at the time of application.
Time Commitment and Pay:
Required: Part-time; minimum 24 hours a week
Must maintain a consistent weekly schedule during normal business hours at a max of 8hrs per day.

$23-27 per hour + $1,000 stipend (Paid $500 on first paycheck and $500 at midpoint of internship)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
These vary based on the role but typically look for skills such as Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), strong problem-solving ability, and written/verbal communication skills. Ability to stay organized and manage multiple and concurrent assignments. Works well in a culture that is open, direct, respectful, courteous, and compassionate. Quick learner, self-motivated, and team-oriented.
