Post-Doctoral Fellow - AES | SOIL | Soil Testing

Summary of Job Duties:
The successful candidate will assist in leading agricultural service and soil-testing programs that support applied nutrient management research and extension programs. Specific responsibilities will include organizing data, archiving soil samples, preparing and submitting research reports, publishing research papers, and helping manage research grants. Additional duties may include laboratory analysis of fertilizer, manure, plant and soil samples, support for field research and assisting in updating fertilizer recommendations and preparing a fertilizer recommendation guide. The candidate will work with graduate students, program associates, lab technicians, professors, stakeholders and various agencies that fund or collaborate on research. The Post-Doctoral Associate position will be located in Fayetteville, AR but remote work agreements may be considered. The position requires some overnight travel and the ability to drive.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
A Ph.D. in soil science, agronomy, or another closely related discipline with a soil fertility and nutrient management emphasis. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, possess leadership skills, exhibit the ability to work independently and as a team member, be highly organized, and have a record of excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with laboratory incubation experiments, field trials, agricultural analyses (plant, soil, and manure analysis), development and publication of manuscripts as lead author, and experience in statistical analysis, data modeling, data publication, and soil testing for phosphorus, potassium, and lime requirement.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
1) Self-motivated, possess leadership skills, exhibit the ability to work independently, and be highly organized.
2) Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a strong publication record.
3) Working knowledge in statistical analysis in SAS, R, or another equivalent program.
4) Experience in soil fertility research, soil and plant laboratory analysis methods, and instrumentation.
5) Knowledge of soil test correlation and calibration procedures and the associated statistical methods will be given preference.
