US Central Trading Rotational Program

It offers a unique vantage point on the rest of the company and its multiple Investment Engines. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects early on. Graduates will be provided with a mentor to help guide their development throughout the programme.

Central Trading Graduate Programme

The Central Trading Graduate Programme is designed to provide exposure to all key areas required to build a successful Execution Desk, with the ultimate goal of creating well-rounded Quantitative Traders who are able to contribute across a wide range of areas and products. The successful candidate will undertake four 4-month rotations across a variety of quantitative and trading functions covering areas such as systematic trading, discretionary trading, execution research, alpha research, execution analytics, portfolio construction, and risk management.

  • Rotation 1 – Central Trading: gain exposure to all aspects of the trading team including systematic and discretionary trading, understand the applications and platforms used day-to-day to manage order flow. Comprehend and engage with different Investment Managers across the firm.
  • Rotation 2 – Numeric: potential areas of focus will be on transaction cost model analysis (realized vs. predicted), client request analytics that estimate transaction costs due to flows, analytics migration in addition to gaining a deep understanding on the life of an order from alpha model, to optimization, to portfolios and the systems that drive this lifecycle.
  • Rotation 3 – Central Trading Analytics: understand the analytic toolkit that exists on execution performance, including ex-post TCA, experimentation, and proprietary algo performance. Gain experience using the analytics toolkits, APIs and frameworks in place to answer questions and generate insights on any area of our multi-asset, multi-engine, multi-channel trading activity.
  • Rotation 4 – Central Trading Algorithmic (Execution) Research: areas of focus include understanding how research reduces transaction costs and captures execution alpha across various assets classes. Gain exposure to key aspects of execution research including cost modeling, execution algos and how research partners with other functions within central trading and the wider organization.

As an Analyst Quant Trader, you will:

  • Member of Boston based Electronic Markets Trading Team responsible for systematic trading strategies for all US / Canada / Latam markets
  • Assist in development of our trading platform, infrastructure and technology
  • Use qualitative and quantitative analysis to improve performance of our systematic strategies
  • Monitor live trading and respond to changing market conditions when necessary
  • Determine appropriateness of execution venues for various trades
  • Assist in various proprietary algorithm enhancements and algo experimentation
  • Analyse high frequency tick data in cash equities from multiple exchanges, including darkpools and Alternative Trading Systems (ATS).
  • Support development of execution algos.
  • Contribute to improvements across portfolio construction, risk management and trading
  • Develop and maintain relationships with our counterparties
  • Carry out post trade analysis and build monitoring tools and reports to continuously improve our execution capabilities

Key competencies

  • Strong academic record and undergraduate coursework in finance, mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics, or engineering
  • Strong programming and statistical analysis skills (e.g., Python, R) and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly
