Job Summary
The Learning Commons Associate oversees general operations of Learning Commons and ensures consistent support for student and faculty research, scholarship, engagement and success through the effective performance of job duties and responsibilities.
Responsibilities
• Provide welcoming, courteous, and actively engaged customer service, including greeting and communicating with faculty, staff, students, and community patrons in person, or by phone, email, or online chat, to identify and address their actual service needs.
• Perform supervisory duties including hiring, training, and coaching of student assistants.
• Provide second-level assistance to students and faculty with technology or information problems and questions.
• Monitor and maintain in-building equipment and technology, perform study room reservations, and check collection items and equipment in and out.
• Perform administrative functions including making recommendations on policies and procedures, suggesting and ordering supplies and collection items, and compiling reports on usage, issues, and needs.
• Assist with the planning and hosting of Georgia Southern University Libraries programs and events.
• Open and close the Learning Commons according to schedule.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
• High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Experience
• Three (3) or more years of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
• Experience working in a library or information/learning commons environment
Proposed Salary
$17.13 - $17.30 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
