Lifecare Family Health & Dental Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center located in Canton and Massillon, OH. We are seeking a Primary Care Physician or D.O. to work at our Canton site. We are in the process of expanding our services and are very excited to be adding additional providers to our team! Working for a FQHC makes you eligible for assistance with Student loans through the NHSC. This is a substantial amount and we are a qualifying site. The hours are Monday-Friday 8-4:30. Position Title:  Assistant Medical Director

 

Reports to:       Chief Medical Officer

 

Classification:  Salary; Exempt

 

Attendance at HIPAA and Compliance educational programs are a requirement of employment.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The Assistant Medical Director is responsible for collaborating with Medical Director in creating  an environment of successful clinical performance and leadership including oversight/supervision for nurse practitioners and Physician Assistants. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Physician Duties:

 

  1. Performs duties and responsibilities of primary care physician including direct patient care in an ambulatory setting.

 

Delivery of Health Care:

 

  1. Serves as acting Medical Director in the absence of Medical Director
  2. Establishes Medical guidelines for the medical care delivered by all physicians.
  3. Provides professional oversight for assigned Advanced Practice Nurses’ and physician assistants according to collaborative practice and supervisory agreements.
  4. Directly supervises the quality of medical care provided by physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, residents, interns, and students.
  5. Provides oversight of medical care delivery by all clinical staff through direct supervision and. conducts medical staff performance and quality improvement/quality assurance evaluations after completion of quarterly chart audits.
  6. Directly evaluates Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants as assigned  and provides feedback to Medical Director to provide annual clinical evaluations.
  7. Serves as a mentor and role model for all clinical staff.
  8. Participates in the After Hours Call Rotations.
  9. Monitors appropriateness of specialist referrals and hospital transfers.
  10. Travels when necessary to meet operational needs.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

Administrative Activities:

 

  1. Participate in Strategic Planning of Health Center.
  2. Collaborates with HR Director to screen, interview, and recommend candidates to Medical Director for final interview and selection of candidate for provider opening.
  3. Participates in  All Staff Meetings, Provider Meetings and Senior Leadership.
  4. Participates in Quality Improvement Committee including the review and updates to medical policies.
  5. Provides annual medical report to board of directors with Medical Director.
  6. Mediates professional disagreements and grievances.

 

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

1.         M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school.

2.         Board Certified or Board eligible in Family Practice.

3.         Ability to maintain appropriate clinical privileges, required.

4.         Current Ohio Medical License without restrictions. 

6.         Ohio DEA registration.

7.         Current BLS certification.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1.         A minimum of two years’ experience working with indigent populations and community based health.

2.         Clinical teaching experience is desirable.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

 

  1. Ability to work as a highly functioning team member.
  2. Ability to perform standard clinical procedures according to established protocol.
  3. Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories.
  4. Knowledge of outpatient clinical administrative procedures.
  5. Knowledge of proper coding of visits.
  6. Demonstrates effective communication skills.
  7. Establishes and maintains professional working relationship with other members of the health center.
  8. Ability to work with a culturally diverse group of people.
  9. Must be willing to work flexible hours and site location as required by position.

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

  1. Successful candidate must be willing to submit to post offer pre-employment physical examination/medical and history and cognitive evaluation.
  2. TB testing or titer required upon hire.
  3. A pre-employment background investigation will be required.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT: 

 

Prolonged sitting or standing may be required.  Those physical movements and the degree of mobility, manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination normally associated with physician duties in a clinic office setting will be performed on a repetitive basis.  This also includes bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, pulling, pushing, and walking.  The ability to sustain moderate physical activity, handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds, and standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day is expected.  The ability to distinguish letters and symbols as well as the ability to utilize telephones, computer terminals, fax machines, and copiers is required. Working under stressful conditions as well as irregular hours may be required.
