LOCATION: Topeka, KS

Kansas City, MO

PAY RANGE: $21.00 - $26.00

Intern Position for Full Time Summer 2025

Flexible hours between Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m

We provide a number of intern events throughout the summer to burn some extra energy, including volunteer events, power plant tours, lunch and learns, and more.

Intern Description:

Under the supervision of the Distribution Asset Manager, works on a variety of assignments to improve reliability across the Evergy territory. Will assist Reliability Engineers with a wide range of technologies and tools to help achieve improved reliability.

Job tasks include but not limited to:

  • Analyzing data from work management systems and inspections
  • Assisting with process improvements
  • Assisting Engineers with initiation of jobs to replace aging infrastructure
  • Assisting Engineers with conducting Root Cause Analysis

Education and Experience Requirements:

Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university or technical program in one of the following or a related technical field:  Maintenance & Reliability Technology; Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering; Civil Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:

  • Excellent communication, public relations, teamwork and technical skills.
  • Strong math, business/technical writing and technical reading skills.
  • Experience in the use of spreadsheets, word processing, and applicable engineering software.
  • Skills are necessary in planning, organizing, oral and written communication, prioritizing and team building.
  • Ability to quickly learn and become proficient in use of new computer software and programs.

Working Conditions:

Conditions will vary between office and field environments.  Travel to other locations within the company is required.  Additional overnight travel may be required occasionally.
