(WORK STUDY ONLY) Student Engagement Assistant - Student Activities and Events
Position Description:
Spirit Team is the official engagement and involvement at SF State. As the Student Assistant – you will be in charge of a variety of tasks pertaining to Alli (The SF State Mascot), GatorFest, Student Organizations, Social Media/ Marketing, and more. While assisting with a variety of SF State-sponsored events on and off campus. As a Student Assistant, you will also work with the professional staff members in helping in Alli's request/scheduling, event facilitation, and information-sharing initiatives.
Description of Duties and Tasks:
Performs as Alli the Gator at SF State and community appearances. Remains in character while wearing the costume
Represents SF State’s mission and core values in a positive and friendly manner through performances at on and off-campus events.
Commits to the assigned schedule of Alli the Gator appearances at on-campus and off-campus events.
Maintains the proper use of Alli the Gator costume as directed.
Distributes SF STATE promotional items designed to create goodwill and increase school spirit.
Coordinates with Student Activities & Events + campus partners to plan annual events and activities for GatorFest and SpringFest
Contribute to the New Student Orientation and Welcome Week program in the summer
Participate in the student programming board to design, plan, and facilitate weekly events and activities for SF State students
Capture photo & video media for events while engaging with the SF State community.
Create and maintain content for display on campus digital signs boards, websites, and other print and digital sources
Collaborate with professional staff on activities and event selection efforts, new initiatives and/or campaigns, etc.
Other responsibilities include supporting New Student & Family program events, University recruitment and spirit programs, and parent and family engagement efforts.
Minimum Qualifications:
Current SF State student, enrolled in full-time classes.
Maintain a cumulative SF State GPA OF 2.5 or higher.
Be in good academic standing with the university and not subject to university discipline per the Student Handbook
Able to attend weekly staff meetings
Able to work scheduled event dates, including evenings, weekends, and during university breaks if necessary.
Outgoing and creative personality with a willingness and desire to have fun.

As a Student Assistant in the Engagement team, you will be entrusted with privileged information regarding the program’s operations, events, and affiliated parties. By joining this program, you agree to maintain strict confidentiality regarding all proprietary information disclosed to you, including but not limited to engagement training techniques, event planning details, internal communications, and your possible identity as Alli the Gator. You understand that any unauthorized disclosure of confidential information may result in immediate termination from the program. This confidentiality obligation remains in effect until your graduation date.
