Student Success Associate

Digital Ready is seeking a motivated and dedicated Student Success Associate to support and empower students in their academic and personal journeys. The Student Success Associate works closely with the Manager of Student Success to support apprentices across all 5 Digital Ready Studios. Student Success Associates work to ensure all apprentices have the personalized support they need to thrive within Studio and pursue their pathway goals. This is an in-person, seasonal position. The Student Success Associate will be a part of the Student Success team that is responsible for supporting our Digital Ready STEM Hub. This includes our Architecture, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Engineering, and Green Tech pathways during their Fall 2024 Studios.

Digital Ready activates the creative potential of high school students, especially Black and Latinx youth, to build tangible pathways to economic opportunities in Boston’s innovation economy. 

Being Digital Ready means being ready for the complexity of a constantly evolving economy and society and requires students to weave together ethnography, engineering, design, and code to solve incredibly gnarly 21st-century problems. At Digital Ready, we utilize the city as a lab for learning striving to make the boundaries between school and the world less strict and more permeable. Our mission is to create tangible economic pathways for students that are driven by students’ interests, local employer needs, and the community’s unique assets. Our students learn by doing. In our studio, students practice habits of creative problem solving in a safe and supportive environment, where they can take risks to learn, ask difficult questions, and develop themselves as creative leaders.

SHARED GOALS: 

  • Ensure innovators arrive on time and have no more than 3 absences per semester; 
  • Ensure that every student is assigned a customized Pathway Plan tied to their unique needs
  • Provide specific, goal-oriented Student Success Plans to necessary students and implement
  • Student Success Support will be rated with an average of 4.0 or higher on the mid-semester and end-of-semester surveys; 
  • 100% of apprentices receive a C or better in the Fall semester; 
  • Establish personalized and relevant support for apprentices through a Student Success Menu of options;
  • 100% of apprentices are retained throughout the Fall semester past the drop/add deadline. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Pathways Coaching: 

○ Conduct bi-weekly, thirty minute meetings with selected apprentices 

○ Support apprentices in finding relevant next steps beyond Studio that align with their goals.

  • Goal Setting and Monitoring: 

○ Support implementation of Digital Ready’s SMART goal-setting framework 

○ Set and review goals at the start of each semester and during check-ins. 

○ Monitor grades through regular check-ins and collaborate with lab leaders to find solutions.

  • Administrative Duties: 

○ Manage relevant apprentice data including: 

■ Attendance Data 

■ Pathway Plan Data 

■ Student Success Plan progress 

■ Personalized Student Success Support services 

○ Analyze trends within data and report to the Manager of Student Success

■ Prototype and present solutions to the Student Success team 




 

  • Attendance Tracking 

○ Monitor attendance data each day and collaborate with lab leaders to implement solutions through student success plans; 

○ Attend and help plan in-person events for scholars, including an overnight end-of-year scholarship retreat. 

■ Participate in weekly in-person scholarship drumbeat meetings with the scholarship team. 

SCHEDULE 

  • New Staff Orientation: September 6th, 12-5PM 
  • Schedule will be determined with your manager based on Studio schedules and meeting times;
  • 20 Hours a week 

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Must be a young adult between the Young Adult ages of 20-25 years old; 
  • All Digital Ready staff must be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus by their first day of employment; 
  • Must be available to work in-person September 15, 2024 through December 20, 2024;
  • Fluency in Spanish, Haitian Creole, or Somalian is preferred. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Current or recent college student with a strong academic record. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to provide empathetic support and motivate peers. 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Data Analysis skills are a plus. 

COMPENSATION 

This is a paid hourly position at a rate of $20 per hour. Payments are made bi-weekly through Gusto, our payroll system.
