International Student Services Assistant

Description:

Assist the International Student Services/Study Abroad Office to provide support to international students through new student arrival and orientation.  Hours may fluctuate to accommodate high need while professional staff is out of office and during new student arrival.

May also help in the promotion of study abroad/study away opportunities.

 International Students:

  • Provide informational support to current students needing assistance.
  • Provide informational support to international applicants
  • Will collect forms to be submitted to the Dean of Students for signature when the Int’l Manager is out of the office.  (I-20 travel signatures, Social Security forms, CPT forms, OPT applications)
  • Assist with international student arrival.
  • Help with international student orientation sessions (i.e. Optional Practical Training, Tax sessions, Health & Safety, recreational activities).
  • Canvas International Student Guide development, updates and support.

Study Abroad/Study Away:

  • Help organize and execute study abroad promotional activities (new student orientations, campus activities, study abroad tabling).
  • May help in the development of study abroad promotional tools and resources.

Office Administration:

  • Help support  Wyllie Zone 2 Administration Desk
  • Office coverage (making appointments, answering questions, responding to email).
  • Administrative office tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Good communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Attention to detail.
  • Basic understanding of F-1 visa processes.
  • Study abroad or international student experience is preferred.
  • UW Parkside Driver Authorization approval would be helpful.

 Time:  

  • 5-8 hours per week during semester.
  • 30 hours  January 25-Feb 2 (new student arrival)
