2025 Spring Materials Lab Engineering Co-op

Job Purpose

Dana Incorporated is seeking to fill a 2025 Spring Materials Lab engineering co-op position at their World Headquarters in Maumee, OH. This is a great opportunity to develop your technical skills by working alongside Dana's engineers in the completion of departmental oriented tasks/assignments.

 

The Materials Lab analyzes the metallurgical/chemical composition of materials used in Dana’s products to understand component failures and effects of production process changes. Samples include, but are not limited to, global warranty, testing, and product development. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

 

•    Learn to perform material testing and failure analysis of components submitted to the Metallurgical Laboratory. 
•    Prepare samples for materials analysis, including sample preparation, metallographic examination, hardness testing, chemical analysis, photo documentation, and non-destructive evaluation.
•    Learn basics of Dana products, including design, specifications, function, materials, and testing. 
•    Evaluate and interpret test results to prepare technical reports.
•    Collaborate with engineers globally.

 

Requirements

  • Enrollment & active pursuit of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Specific majors: Mechanical, Materials Science, Metallurgical or Chemical
  • Proven work experience, strong analytical ability, & excellent mechanical aptitude.
  • Self-directed & motivated individual with great organizational skills.
  • Experience with Manufacturing or Assembly a plus.
  • Willing to do multiple assignments & rotate through other engineering departments.
  • Full-time availability.
  • Good oral & written communication skills.
  • Must be able to interface in a team environment.
