You’ll be joining a cohort of talented students from a variety of schools across the U.S. We hire interns into the following positions: Process Engineering, R&D, Strategic Sourcing, Technical Sales, Supply Chain, Product Marketing, Information Technology, and more.

Internship Location: Fridley, MN.

Position Overview
The Fridley Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Intern will be part of our global Engineering Adhesives (EA) Windows Division located in Fridley MN. The Fridley team is responsible for producing quality product for our customers in an efficient and sustainable manner. This position will help identify and automate the OEE metrics to ensure we are running our assets the most efficient way possible along with propose process improvements to reduce cycle time. May also work on projects in the maintenance area.
Primary Duties
While working through the assigned projects, the intern will partner with Manufacturing professionals to increase reportability of efficiency and make suggestions for removal of bottlenecks. The intern will demonstrate project management skills, learn how different functions collaborate to reduce cost and improve production output, develop relationships, think strategically and creatively, request and give feedback. The types of projects the intern will be working on are as follows:
- Automate manual data collections to measure OEE metrics.
- Present the data in an organized, clear and insightful manner for individuals of various backgrounds.
- Analyze data and present production improvements to eliminate or reduce bottlenecks.
- Work on maintenance improvement projects – work order system improvements, parts storage optimization
- Work on plant mechanical reliability
- Provides support to facility manager, shift managers, regional process engineer, operations, and R&D personnel in process improvement, process transfer, and technology improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related fields
- Must be detailed oriented, and able to be a self-starter to complete projects
- Must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of Continuous Improvement (CI) concepts (Kanban, Kaizen, LSS)
- 1+ year practical process or applications engineering experience in industry
- Knowledge of the adhesive industry (manufacturing processes, equipment, substrates, test methods, and chemistry).
Physical Environment
- Working in factory/manufacturing environment
- While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to stand.
- The employee is frequently required to walk, climb stairs, use hands to remove or lift boxes, stretch and reach with arms extended, and stoop.
- Minimal Travel within the Minneapolis & St Paul, MN area
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.
The salary for this role is $22-$25 per hour based on major.
