Position Title: Career Services Event Planning and CARE in CAREer Services Coordinator – On-Campus Internship Program

Hourly Wage: $13.00 (Work Study accepted)

Hours per Week: 15

Supervised by: Director of Career Services

Term: Fall 2024 – Spring 2025 

 

General Purpose of Position: The Career Services Event Planning and CARE in CAREer Services Coordinator provides support in the coordination of event management, marketing, and continuing education approvals and tracking. The Career Services Event Planning and CARE in CAREer Services Coordinator works in close partnership with the Director of Career Services, Alumni Director, Resource Development and additional faculty and staff of the IU School of Social Work to develop, plan, coordinate, design and evaluate all aspects of career-related events. The Career Services Event Planning and CARE in CAREer Services Coordinator will also be responsible for coordinating meetings system-wide with CARE in CAREer Services stakeholders.  

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

(15%) Assist in coordination of all event logistics, technology, stakeholder communications etc.;

(20%) Maintain event records, including budgets, forms, registration, computer databases, reports/surveys, and correspondences;

(20%) Assist in the day-of facilitation of various IUSSW events, including set-up and tear-down; 

(20%) Actively lead in pre-event planning meetings and post-event debriefing meetings and Manage pre-event communications with site hosts, event exhibitors, staff volunteers, and student attendees; and

(25%) Collaborate with staff and faculty across campuses to develop materials promoting the events via social media, print, digital signage, and other appropriate mediums in accordance with ADA rules. 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to commit to at least 1 academic year in this position.
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
  • Seniors are NOT eligible to participate in the program.
  • Experience or familiarity working with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or other design software
  • Ability to make independent judgements, identifying complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions which will impact the school and its students, alumni, staff, faculty and community partners.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and work toward deadline.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities is critical.
  • Ability to conduct self in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with other staff.
  • Ability to engage with social media platforms.
  • Computer proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft Programs.
  • Perform general labor needed for related events to include set-up, teardown which may require the need to lift or manipulate items weighing up to 25lbs.

During this opportunity, Career Services Event Planning and CARE in CAREer Services Coordinator will be able to:

This opportunity is part of the On-Campus Internship Program

This internship is offered as a part of the On-campus Internship Program and aims to connect IUI undergraduate freshman, sophomores, and juniors with internships on-campus with faculty and staff in a variety of campus areas/programs. Internships start in August and end in May. Interns will be required to obtain at least one academic credit in the academic year while participating in their internship experience and will have a site visit from the Office of Student Employment during their experience.  On-going coaching and feedback on performance will be provided by internship supervisors according to a strict timeline of the program. Specific internship projects and duties will vary by internship. Students in this program will be required to participate in a public showcase of learning at the end of year to outline their experience as a part of Engaged Learning Week, and will participate in additional development throughout the year. After completing the program, their On-Campus Internship experience will be added to their IUI Experiential and Applied Learning Record.
