Work Arrangement:
Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren Tech Center, three times per week, at minimum. Onsite: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis.

What You’ll Do:
As a Design Engineering Intern, you are responsible for developing design solutions to meet component requirements and performance standards. This includes problem solving with the support of Advanced Development Analysis Software. Multi-functional team communication is required for proper issue resolution. Daily activities require you to understand basic design concepts and problem solving. This means you can work with minimal direction and make basic decisions based on general practices and procedures. We would also love you to develop skills to be proficient in CAD (Computer Aided Design) Tools and understanding basic Standard Modeling Methods and Best Practices.
How You’ll Make an Impact:
Develop fully integrated CAD models of components and subsystems
Develop an understanding of manufacturability of components and subsystems
Participate in design reviews and integration work groups
Document and maintain materials, mass, and other part specifications within the Math file
Complete NX Analysis for their subsystem. Applies results and learning to future models
Coordinate guidance from multiple internal / external customers to meet requirements
Share lessons learned with Team and/or Organization
Create quality math data (models) and executes proper engineering changes
Keep Design team aware of project status, timing, and technical issues
Actively identify new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunities
Alignment to the Global Virtual Design Group: Chassis, Body, Interiors, Thermal, Electrical, Engine/Transmission, Data Management, Virtual Engineering, Virtual Build, Visualization, Electrification
Additional Job Description
Required Qualifications:
Pursuit of a bachelor's degree in one of the following areas: Product Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Technology
Must be graduating between December 2025 and June 2028
Able to work fulltime for duration of internship, 40 hours per week
What will give you a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
Successful completion of CAD (Solid Works/NX/Catia/etc.) and Analysis (CAE/FEA) courses
Knowledgeable in proper design methods and procedures based on common modeling process
Developing knowledge of CAE and interpreting results
Understanding of product design concepts and manufacturing processes (i.e., injection molding, stamping, extrusion, machining, etc.)
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Analytical problem-solving skills
Basic understanding of Specifications and Release terms and systems
Knowledge of statistical methods as applied to experimental design and process development
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill complex subjects to a wider audience
Emerging partnership and teamwork skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment
High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, take initiative/self-directed
Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability, and trust
Consistently shows innovative thinking that is customer-centric
Start dates for this internship role are May 12th & June 9th of 2025.
Compensation:
The salary range for this role is ($4,300 – 4,900) monthly, dependent upon class status and degree.
GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to eligible students selected for the 2025 Student Program.
