Multilingual Learner (ML) Educational Consultant

Summary:
The Multilingual Learner Educational Consultant will provide leadership, instructional direction, and organizational support to school districts regarding instruction, curriculum, assessment, tiered levels of support, school improvement, and systems thinking in the area of English Language Development.

This position will assist local school districts and KRESA programs with implementing high-quality teaching & learning supporting Multilingual Learners (ML), English Second Language (ESL), and Bilingual students. In this role the individual will provide strategic and technical support in identifying evidence-based/high impact strategies to support growth and improvement; aid in aligning program procedures and guidelines to federal and state regulations; facilitate data analysis of student-level data to make informed decisions addressing academic and opportunity gaps for students; and provide consulting
and coordinate activities related to school/district improvement, accountability, data profile, program evaluation, comprehensive needs assessments, and state and federal programs.

In this position the individual will serve as a resource and collaborate with KRESA staff, local school district teachers and administrators, Kalamazoo County instructional leaders & teacher groups, community agencies, local universities, and professional organizations on matters related to curriculum, instruction, assessment, school improvement, and strengthening systems for learners of multiple languages.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Provide training and coaching on evidence-based practices for teams and leadership development, using a variety of instructional techniques and formats to enhance learning for English learners.
* Communicates ML/EL/ESL/Bilingual programs, procedures, guidelines, as well as federal and state regulations to internal and external stakeholders & partners.
* Design, implement and facilitate the application of high-quality professional learning, technical assistance, and formal and informal ML/EL/ESL/Bilingual training specific to English learners that is accessible, inclusive, and culturally relevant to the needs of participants.
* Have experience in data team implementation and facilitation, tiers of intervention, and effective strategy identification that meet the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse learners.
* Have direct experience working in schools or programs that serve ML/EL/ESL/Bilingual students.
*Coordinate and provide peer coaching, mentoring, modeling, and other educational and
instructional support geared to enhance learning for English learners.
* Assist school administrators with district-level and school-level strategic planning & programming that supports the academic achievement of English learners.
* Plan and implement a comprehensive program evaluation designed to develop, monitor, and adjust programming for professional learning.

* Consult and collaborate with school and district leaders about the most effective strategies to support ML/EL/ESL/Bilingual students.
* Collaborate with school teams and leaders to develop data-driven, student-centered,
trauma-sensitive, and culturally responsive plans for schoolwide transformation within a
continuous improvement process to enhance learning for English learners.
* Collect and analyze implementation, progress monitoring, and evaluation data on
school/district/organization-wide practices and programs to support a more inclusive culture for ML/EL/ESL/Bilingual students and families.
* Collaborate with district teams to support the implementation of various district priorities related to supporting English learners and their families within a school and district.
* Support the facilitation and the network coordination of the ML Consortium on behalf of the districts of Kalamazoo County.
* Work as a member of an interdisciplinary team in the Instructional Services department to provide the most effective and comprehensive professional learning and support services to administrators, educators, and teams.
* Collaborate with community agencies and partners in designing and providing a framework for additional support and services to ML/EL/ESL/Bilingual students and families for targeted and intensive services.
* Attend all department meetings, team meetings, agency meetings, and other appointments relevant to the position.
* Regular and consistent attendance.
* Other duties as assigned.

* Bilingual in Spanish and English.
*Strong analytical, time management, and interpersonal skills.
* Valid Michigan teaching certificate with proper ESL (NS) endorsement required.
* Four or more years of related experience including classroom teaching experience with English learners.
