Position Description: 

The Web Developer Internship is an opportunity to learn and improve your development skills by working with the IUSSW development team. As a member of IUSSW team, you will participate in a full Agile software development lifecycle including design, implementation, and testing using industry best practices and tools. Our applications team is passionate about continuously improving the experience of our end users and administrators. The internship will focus on building new websites for our school’s outreach to potential/current students, alumni, research, and global community. Additionally, assist with upgrading and building new features for existing web applications. A talented mentor will support you as you develop your software skills in an exciting dynamic environment. Our internship is designed for individuals who are currently enrolled at an accredited college/university and who will be continuing their studies in the fall/spring.

 

Responsibilities

• Learn and develop your web development skills by utilizing modern JavaScript frameworks along with a PHP/MySQL.

• Follow established design and coding guidelines

• Implement coding, unit tests, functional tests and documentation

• Create front end website components

Requirements

• Students currently pursuing undergraduate degrees in Computer Science, Informatics, Media, CIT with development focus, or related areas are encouraged to apply.

• Fundamental coding skills

• Knowledge or experience in web development including: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP

• Basic understanding of any of the following would be helpful: MySQL, jQuery, Vue, React, GIT, XML, C#, .NET

• Familiarity with any of the following would be a plus: API’s, RESTful, JSON, Velocity or Java

• Preference for senior or master's level students

• Able to work independently at times and dedicate 16 – 20 hours/week.
