Lab Technician

We are seeking a Lab Technician for our client in Red Hill, North Carolina. The Lab Technician will Apply the appropriate scientific tests and procedures to any sample submitted for testing and produce accurate, valid results as requested/required, using a range of methods from standard and well-established routines to specially adapted processes.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Analyze submitted samples and produce accurate results, respecting agreed deadlines.
  • Prepare sample compliant with the relevant methodology and the required accuracy and precision.
  • Conduct the analysis of sample and follow laboratory procedures on various sample types, as submitted, in order to produce accurate, reproducible results.
  • Ensure the results are available in the relevant IT system Uses a range of methods from standard and well-established routines to specially adapted processes.
  • Plans own work within constraints of a research program or test schedule.
  • Liaises with maintenance staff on repair of faults and modifications.
  • Works on specific projects under guidance of a technical specialist, e.g. chemist.
  • Record data, observations, and conclusions
  • Thoroughly understand the principles of operations of the analytical equipment, operate them correctly.
    • Perform calibration checks of the instruments to the reference
    • Perform small maintenance activities for the instrument at hand

Job Requirements

Educational

  • Bachelor Degree in Chemistry, Material Engineering or comparable/relevant experience
  • Relevant experience in the work field is appreciated

Other

  • English – Advanced verbal and writing
  • Practical understanding of industrial mineral industry. Practical understanding of processing and application of minerals in the intended field of application (eg Ceramic tiles, Coatings, water treatment etc) and practical understanding of the typical test protocols for these kind of applications.
  • Ability to work with a basic set of software packages.
  • Depending on the level, either basic to extensive understanding of the relevant product segment.
  • In depth knowledge of majority of relevant analytical techniques and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of client's safety regulations and ensure activities are in compliance with those regulations.
