Founding Systems Engineer

Role Overview:

We are seeking an extremely talented Systems Engineer to lead the design and development of our high-power (2kV // 7kA) neuromodulation technology. In this role, you will be responsible for architecting the most efficient, scalable, and cutting-edge brain stimulator in the world. Your responsibilities will include analyzing our first-generation device, designing a vastly improved version 2, coordinating with contract engineers, augmenting firmware, developing custom components, overseeing the integration of these components, ensuring compliance with medical device safety standards, and improving the system post-deployment.

You're a 10x engineer skilled in power electronics, passionate about mental health, with the potential to lead and mentor a growing team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Integration: Define system architecture, integrate subsystems.
  • Component & Compliance: Specify components, ensure regulatory standards.
  • Testing & Risk: Develop tests, manage safety risks, build to medical device standards.
  • Contractor & Vendor Management: Oversee contractors, collaborate with vendors.
  • Documentation & Improvement: Maintain records, drive design improvements.

  • Experience: 5+ years in the field; Bachelor in EE required, masters preferred.
  • Collaboration: Lead and work within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Attention to Detail: Precision in system specs and integration.

Logistics:

  • Work Mode: In-Person
  • Locations: Palo Alto or San Diego
  • Compensation: $120K to $200K · 0.4% - 1.2% Equity
  • Employment Type: Permanent
  • Visa: Will sponsor TN visa or equivalent. No H1B.
