Graduate Research Assistant
CloudLeap Technologies, LLC is looking for a Graduate student (Master's or PhD) in the Department of Psychology at either UMBC or the University of Maryland (UMD) College Park to help us with a literature review as we work on building a product in Machine Learning and Mental Health.
Our interests include:
1) What do studies show about the accuracy of diagnosis of mental disorders?
- How accuracy may be affected by the type of provider making the diagnosis (e.g., mental health providers versus PCPs, including nurse practitioners),
- The extent to which there may be diagnostic agreement as to the category of mental impairment (e.g., affective vs anxiety disorders) but disagreement as to the specific DSM-IV or DSM-5 mental disorder diagnosis,
- Factors that contribute significantly to diagnostic accuracy, especially any research that shows how information about the claimant’s day-to-day functioning (e.g., effectiveness in carrying out ADLs or amount/type of socialization) improves diagnostic accuracy).
2)Are there aspects of a person’s day-to-day functioning (or changes in the person’s day-to-day social functioning or changes in other behavior) that correspond to improved mental health treatment outcomes?
3)Are there any objective or 3rd party measures of a person’s behavior (such as motor activity, socialization data, extent of gameplay, etc., collected by smartphone, social media programs, or phone/tablet apps) that correlate with or otherwise seem to be related to mental health treatment outcome or improved mental functioning?
Essential Skills:
