Internship in Strategy/Investment Research (Undergraduate & Master's)

The Research Department at Dimensional is integral both in the successful day-to-day functioning of the firm and in developing Dimensional’s long-term strategy. The team produces high-quality, thought-leadership research on investments and financial markets that is of interest to clients. The team also leads the development of the firm’s investment approach, the application of that approach through portfolio management and trading, and the implementation of technology solutions that make the investment process more efficient.  

 

Our team is seeking students from top tier academic programs to intern in the summer of 2025. The Internship offers an opportunity to work on intellectually rigorous and stimulating challenges and provides real life experience into the different aspects of research at Dimensional. The Internship is open to students in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, engineering, and other related quantitative fields who expect to complete their degree in December 2025-June 2026.

 

Responsibilities 

This nine-week program will expose interns to the day-to-day activities of the Research group. Interns will gain an understanding of what it's like to be a Research Analyst at Dimensional, as they will be involved in projects that meet our firm’s current business needs. You will be expected to use your intellect, quantitative reasoning, and computational skills to identify and solve the various issues that arise in a fast-paced environment, working simultaneously on individual projects and team-based initiatives. Depending on what team within Research you are assigned to, projects may include the following:

  • Perform analysis on portfolios and prospective strategies;
  • Execute and analyze simulations for research on asset pricing models and economics studies;
  • Conduct empirical research related to Dimensional’s investment strategies and a variety of investment topics;
  • Review relevant academic papers and present findings to internal research teams; and
  • Work with other members of the investment and client services teams to answer internal and client questions.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3.2 GPA and pursuing an undergraduate or specialized Master’s degree with an expected graduation date of December 2025 – June 2026. Preferred fields of study include finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, engineering, or other related quantitative fields.
  • Excellent quantitative problem-solving and analytic skills.
  • Ability to communicate financial and economic concepts, in both oral and written form.
  • Self-starter who can manage multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong programming skills in one or more languages, such as C#, C++, Fortran, R, SAS, or Stata.
  • Experience doing empirical research with large datasets.
