General Purpose 

Accessible Educational Services (AES) is the disability services office for Indiana University Indianapolis students. Accommodation Support Professionals (ASPs) are part of the team making an IU education accessible to students with a wide range of disabilities, some apparent and some nonapparent. Specifically, ASPs will work directly with students to provide testing accommodations through the AES testing lab. AES seeks individuals who deeply care for all people and who can serve them with integrity, compassion, and honor.       

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Greeting and checking in test-takers for their scheduled exams  

Proctoring exams in the AES Testing Lab and other locations  

Reading and/or scribing for exams 

Delivering completed exams to on-campus departments and faculty 

Cleaning and maintaining Testing Lab spaces 

Using software extensively for the proctoring process 

Alphabetical filing of paper test records 

Representing AES at the main office front desk to answer basic questions and taking deliveries

Computer (using MS Excel, Accommodate platform, Slack, Teams, etc.) 

Printer/copier

Qualifications 

Required Qualifications 

Must support the mission of AES to champion the diversity, equity, and inclusion of students with disabilities  

Must be comfortable initiating friendly conversation with a variety of people 

Must be willing to complete training in, and comply with, HIPPA and FERPA regulations 

Must demonstrate exceptional time management skills 

Must be flexible and able to adapt to the needs of the Testing Lab 

Must be able to work independently as well as with a team 

Must be able to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff 

Must be well organized and reliable 

Must be able to problem solve quickly 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

Comfortable and competent at reading test text to students 

Comfortable and competent at writing dictated text for students (scribing) 

Comfortable with time related math calculations 

Comfortable learning and working with a variety of digital collaboration platforms

ASPs will improve both their listening and speaking skills as they develop relationships with colleagues and students alike. ASPs will build confidence in professional communication and positive interactions with a diverse and unique group of individuals.

ASPs will increase their flexibility and ability to creatively solve problems independently and as a team. ASPS will gain analytical and decision-making skills as they implement Testing Lab procedures and evaluate the need for adjustments in real-time.

ASPs will grow in personal responsibility, self-awareness, and sensitivity to the needs of others. ASPs will participate in a service-oriented, others-focused, collaborate team effort to build an inclusive campus community.
