Policy Manager

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Policy Manager to join Folia Technologies! In this part-time role, you will closely manage and support young researchers in our Climate Policy program track, overseeing their efforts to write reports and research papers on critical global issues. This is an excellent opportunity to lead and mentor students passionate about environmental science and public policy while contributing to impactful climate advocacy and policy development.

Policy Manager

Eligibility

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen who currently resides in one of the 50 U.S. States or Washington, D.C. (At this time, Folia Technologies does not provide sponsorship for visas such as H-1B.) 
  • Must be between the ages of 18 and 30 by September 1, 2024.
  • Current high school student OR current undergraduate/graduate student at an accredited 2 or 4-year institution.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing Environmental Science, International Affairs, Public Policy, Political Science, Law, Economics, Sociology, or any related field OR have experience in policy research and/or management
  • Experience managing or mentoring youth or student teams is highly desirable.
  • Intermediate understanding of environmental stewardship and STEM concepts.
  • Intermediate proficiency in research methodologies and familiarity with environmental issues and climate-related social issues.
  • Proficiency in using digital communication tools like Discord and Google Workspace.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
     

Key Responsibilities

  • Closely manage and support young researchers in the Climate Policy program track.
  • Facilitate all communications between the staff (especially the Executive Director and Deputy Director) and the Climate Policy young researchers.
  • Serve as the principal policy researcher, leading research efforts on global climate-related social issues such as climate finance, loss and damage, climate mobility, etc.
  • Work with the Engineering Lead to proofread, format, and submit the final drafts of volunteer papers for publication on our website.
  • Host regular team meetings to discuss research progress and provide feedback.
  • Moderate the team’s Discord channel, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among team members.

Compensation Information

Location: Fully Remote

Start Date: November 1, 2024 

Time commitment: Selected applicant is expected to work remotely and mostly asynchronously from Monday to Friday, for approximately 10 hours each week. This position is great for youth who hope to maintain other commitments, such as being a full-time or part-time student.

Pay: $15 per hour (10 hours per week)
