Job Summary
The Nutrition Services Manager is responsible for creating and implementing comprehensive nutrition programs for the university's dining services. This role oversees the nutritional content, quality, and safety of all food oBerings, ensuring compliance with dietary restrictions and national nutrition guidelines. The specialist also educates the campus community on healthy eating habits and supports sustainability and wellness initiatives.
Responsibilities
• Analyze the nutritional composition, including calorie, macronutrient, micronutrient, and allergen content of all campus dining menus and recipes. Make data-driven recommendations to enhance the overall nutritional profile of offerings
• Ensure proper allergen and trait identification, auditing recipes for accuracy and completeness
• Collaborate with dining services chefs and managers to integrate a variety of healthy, balanced meal options catering to diverse dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and culturally appropriate choices
• Participate in the development and regular audits of childcare menus, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and food allergy guidelines
• Provide hands-on training and ongoing guidance to dining staff on proper food preparation, storage, and handling techniques to maintain food safety, quality, and nutritional integrity
• Develop and deliver training programs related to allergen management, food safety, cultural, and religious food customs
• Coordinate with university health, wellness, and sustainability departments to create and deliver interactive nutrition education campaigns, including cooking demonstrations, dietary counseling, and informational resource
• Participate in delivering nutrition education programs as needed
• Monitor evolving nutrition regulations, industry trends, and best practices related to campus dining services. Implement strategic changes to maintain compliance and continuous improvement
• Assist with investigations related to allergy incidents and provide consultations to affected individuals. Prepare reports for management on these incidents and other nutrition-related issues
• Maintain detailed records, key performance indicators, and comprehensive reporting on nutritional data, dietary preferences, and customer satisfaction with campus dining offerings
• Provide consultation services to dining staff and individual students, including those with special dietary needs. Make referrals to University Health Services dietitians as needed
• Serve as a subject matter expert, responding promptly and professionally to inquiries, feedback, and concerns from the campus community
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science, or a related field Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) certification
Required Experience
• Three (3) - Five (5) years of experience in campus or institutional dining, with a proven track record of improving nutritional quality and promoting healthy eating
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Education
• Master's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, or related field
• Certifications such as Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD), or ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification
Preferred Experience
• Experience in designing nutrition education programs and strong public speaking skills
Experience managing projects and proficiency in nutrition and food service management software
Proposed Salary
$50,173 - $63,955
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
