Quality Process Technician

Title:  Quality Process Technician 
Location:  Cranbury, NJ
Schedule:  2nd Shift 2 PM- 12:30 AM, M-F
Type:  Direct Hire

Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for conducting analytical testing and sampling of products, which are then sent to external laboratories for further analysis, including microbial testing. The role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, from sampling bulk trailer trucks to conducting thorough process non-conformance investigations using lean manufacturing techniques.

  • Champion food safety and quality initiatives by coaching operations teams and leading by example, fostering a culture of excellence and compliance.
  • Uphold Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) to maintain an organized and compliant laboratory environment.
  • Calibrate and verify the analytical equipment used by both the laboratory and production teams to ensure accurate testing and results.
  • Oversee production processes by retaining samples for reference, assigning Pantone IDs for products, performing ATP and allergen swabs, approving finished product labels, and providing ongoing quality support.
  • Manage the receipt of inbound materials by comparing product specifications with Certificates of Analysis (COA) and approving products accordingly.
  • Conduct sampling of all raw materials and finished goods, ensuring timely submission of samples for microbiological testing.
  • Maintain and update quality databases with accurate test results and reports.
  • Ensure chemical compliance through regular titrations, inventory management, and periodic audits
  • Assist in quality audits, investigate quality complaints, and contribute to Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) as needed.
  • Understand the operation of metal detectors on site and provide troubleshooting support to resolve any issues.
  • Perform regular quality audits of the facility at the required frequency, ensuring compliance with standards and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Exhibit exceptional document management skills to maintain thorough and accurate records.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with major in Chemistry, Biology or Food Science or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2-3 years of experience in quality control/assurance laboratory or production facility
  • Familiar with quality assurance concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs)- ability to follow laboratory SOPs.
  • Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices (GDPs)- ability to keep proper records.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software Word, Excel
  • HACCP certified is a plus.
  • Able to lift a 50-pound container may be required as part of the daily activities.   
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Food Safety understanding, food industry experience
