After School Program Arts Instructor

General Scope of Responsibilities:

Sunnyside Child Development Center is a non-profit organization serving underprivileged children in the inner city.  Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Arts Instructor administers the art component of Sunnyside Center’s After-School Program consistent with the philosophy, objectives, standards, and procedures of Catholic Charities and Sunnyside Child Development Center.

Duties and Daily Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for the organization and upkeep of the Art Program and Art Room.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies.
  • Prepare, plan, direct, and supervise age-appropriate arts and crafts activities for children.
  • Actively supervise children ages 5 – 12 years old.
  • Maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios.
  • Support Catholic Charities’ and Sunnyside Center’s missions.
  • Strive to fulfill the goals and objectives of Sunnyside Center.
  • Conduct behavior in a professional manner.
  • Follow Sunnyside Center’s policies and procedures.
  • Be flexible, dependable, and work as a team player.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by an appropriate supervisor.

Minimum Position Requirements:

  • Art degree or presently pursuing one OR two years of experience in an art-related field

Position Details:

  • Monday-Friday from 1:30 pm to 5:15 pm (3.75 hours/day) with occasional extra time opportunities when needed in the program
  • Pay is $16.25/hour
